“Signal Loss” is an 11-minute sci-fi thriller set in a near-future surveillance state. The story follows a lone satellite technician stationed on the edge of the Earth’s orbit who receives a mysterious, unauthorized signal. When she investigates, she uncovers a disturbing truth about the global government she works for — and must decide whether to expose it, or protect her only chance of survival.
The film blends classic science fiction isolation (à la Moon, Ex Machina) with the moral tension of a political thriller. The visual style is minimal and high-tech, using practical sets and VFX only where necessary. It’s a story about trust, truth, and what happens when you’re the only one who can see the full picture.
This will be my first sci-fi short as a director, and I’m looking for passionate, story-driven creatives to help build a contained world with cinematic impact.
